Finally Drawing Again
Recently I made the decision to bite the bullet and purchase an iPad. I'm not an Apple person, so this could be considered a big deal.
I am an Android user through and through. It just feels better to use, in my opinion. It also has a back button. What is up with that by the way? Why are there no back buttons in Apple tech?
Anyway, why did I make such a drastic transition? Procreate.
Unfortunately, it's only available on Apple. In its early days, I would advocate loudly for them to port it onto Android; I understand now that they have since won a deal with Apple themselves and are basically paid (rather generously, I assume) for exclusivity. Understandable, considering it puts people like me in a situation where I must throw copious abouts of money at Apple just to use one program. Plus Good Pizza, Great Pizza, but I digress...
So why an iPad, and why specifically Procreate. Two reasons. Power and portability. I chucked one of those bulky toddler-proof cases on it and now I could easily throw this bad boy across the room with no stress. I'd probably damage what I managed to hit rather than the iPad itself. As for Procreate, I have been watching the program grow since early development and it has come a long way. Say what you want about Apple, it is a powerhouse for media creation, and it certainly shows when using Procreate alongside the Apple Pencil Pro.
Sidebar; £100+ for a stylus is fucking insane.
It's a learning curve, that's for sure. I have drawn digitally for years and have a pretty decent Huion screen tablet hooked up to my PC but sitting at my desk has become increasingly more restricting, physically and emotionally. I love being able to plop myself down anywhere, whack out my beast of a tablet, and just... draw. I haven't been able to draw and enjoy it for a long ass time, and it has been so refreshing.
I've actually been able to finish something and like it in its finished state. Anyone in any kind of arts knows how hard that is to pull off. I've been mocked for calling it a "doodle", but to me it is because the only reason I drew it was to work out what wig to wear to the Ren Faire we're going to soon.
Anyway, this is my first ever Ren Faire so I'm pretty excited but I also don't know what to expect. I've heard British ones don't live up to the extravagance of American ones, but apparently that has started to change? If the website is anything to go by, it looks great. We shall see. I'm sure I will have fun there, regardless! I've been told that there is a Trinket Trading culture, so I've decided to cobble together some 40-something minature dragon plushes and just... throw them at people whenever I get the chance. I have been sewing for weeks :')
Back to the point...

EGG UPDATE
If you've been here before, you may have noticed I've messed with the colour scheme a bit. For some reason it just felt a little dull? Which is ironic considering you could argue I've jumped from light mode to dark mode. The blue is calm though, at least to me. I want to get some custom fonts but every time I try the whole thing breaks. Not really sure what I'm doing wrong there, to be honest!
I might just shove it back to a basic sans-serif font and call it a day :/
