Finding Something to Talk About

I have several post ideas. The problem is that they exist either as the title alone, or as a work in progress I intend to go back to. More often than not, these ideas also need extra research (I refuse to blindly post something assuming I’m correct).

As these ideas stack up in the ‘this needs more work’ pile, procrastination starts to settle in and suddenly I have nothing to talk about and nothing to post. Well that defeats the purpose of a blog, doesn’t it?

I feel like the idea of not wanting to share something until it is ‘perfect’ is something a lot of us can relate to, and seems especially prevalent amongst those of us who are relatively new to blogging. On a personal level, it is something I have always struggled with.

I did Art as a GSCE in school. Anyone who has ever done Art as a GSCE can tell you how horrible an idea that is. It is a soul-sucking educational career to experience, which I will talk about in depth eventually, but for a basic level understanding I will simply say that if what you did wasn’t perfect it might as well not have existed. For some reason after going through that for 3 years I decided that continuing for another 2 as an A-Level course would be a good idea. Anyone who has ever done Art as an A-Level course can tell you how horrible an idea that is.

‘Nothing less than perfection’ had been drilled into me to the point where it became a permanent fixture and the only way to undo it was to demolish the ‘house’ and start from scratch. I’ve been building myself back up for a while now, but when you demolish something there tends to be quite a bit of rubble that sticks around. You need to clear that stuff up first before you go anywhere, you know?

So here I am, forcing myself to write something because I deserve to be able to do that actually. Does it need to be perfect? Nah… But my brain is going to fight me the entire time. And is.

In other news, I am finally getting over the latest bout of Office Plague. I’m not sure what strain in particular this one was, but it included something I like to call ‘Swamp Lung’. Who knew the human body could hold so much slime in it.

I am also working on my first long-form post, which I have decided to do quite a bit of research for. It’s an opinion piece really, but I want to make it as informative, accurate, and educational as possible. Not sure when it’ll be done, but I’m hoping for sometime next week?

Maybe.
